Decembers Up DATE
December 9th, 2009 by ron

We have had a very busy and interesting past 3 or 4 weeks as depicted by the photos!

#1.  Ron and I were able to purchase a multi-cultivator for a refugee returnee to Serbia.  We found a really great deal on one that is brand new but has a bit of sun fading from being on the sales lot.  We were able to save $500.00 by purchasing this little tractor and the recipient was thrilled.

#2.  Just 2 weeks ago we completed the Neo-Natal Resuscitation  training in Novi Sad.  We had dinner with the head Dr., Dr Boba as we call her.  Notice the beautifully lit bridge in the background.  It is a bridge over the Danube River in Novi Sad.  Babies will be saved because of this training which is to resuscitate babies that don’t immediately breathe on their own at birth.

#3.  This pic. is in Cicevac.  This is the water project that we are still in the process of submitting.  Pictured are Ron, Annette, Slavica-the Red Cross Secretary in Cicevac, The Mayor of Cicevac, and Sid and Louise Allsop who are water specialists from Utah.  They came to Serbia to assess the need of this water project and their conclusion is that the water project is definitely in need of our help.  Incidently, Bro. Allsop is 80 yrs. Old and Sis. Allsop is 76.  Aren’t they a great example to all of us to never giving up.  I think they will leave this life (when their time comes) kicking and screaming to stay and keep on working!

#4. Bro. & Sis. Allsop and the Mayor at one of the 12 water pedestals in the city of Cicevac where the residents now get their drinking water.

#5.  The main  primary lines are being installed at this time.  The primary lines are being funded by the Serbian Government.  This is a look at the trenches where the lines are being installed.

#6.  From Cicevac we went to Kraljevo to visit with the hospital about having a Neo-Natal training there in May.  They are really interested and are hopeful that we can get it approved for the southwest portion of Serbia.  This pic is with the hospital staff, Ron and I, Nikola our translator and Dr. & Sis. Bennett in the office of the Hospital Administrator.

#7.  We took a much needed P-Day to show the Allsops a small bit of Belgrade.  We visited the St. Sava Temple just down the street from our flat on a very rainy day!

#8.  On Sunday, after church, we went to Tuzla, Bosnia.  We went there to meet the Colton’s and the Durrance’s to show them our projects that we are working on there.  They are our leaders in the Frankfort office that we have worked with since we arrived in March.  Bro and Sis Durrance go home in a few days as their mission is over.  The Colton’s are their new replacements that we will be working with.  Pictured here are the Colton’s, Connie Durrance, Tanja from the Tuzla Red Cross, Joe Durrance, Me and Ron.

We have 250 wheelchairs on a ship headed for the port of Croatia that will them be trucked to Tuzla.  They are scheduled to arrive in 2-3 weeks.  We also have a container of used winter clothing also in transit to Tuzla.  We think it will arrive in January.

#9.  One of our favorite projects is our greenhouse project. We donated this greenhouse to the Vocational School and Red Cross in Kalesija, Bosnia.  They will be joint owners.  The students will learn how to grow vegetables year-round in the greenhouse and will in turn donate the vegetables to the Red Cross who will use the vegetables in their Soup Kitchens and distribute to shut ins who are in need in their city.  We think this is a real win-win situation that will benefit many people, the students, and the needy of the area.

#10.  Elder Jasper, Elder Christiansen and me.  They are hungry boys and so we keep feeding them.  Incidentally, they will eat anything!!!!

#11.  Back to Novi Sad.  Sister Bennett and I preparing for the Neo-Natal Training.

#12.  We have a wonderful  Mission President.  He lives on the road as he travels from place to place to take care of his Missionaries and still finds the time to come to our events to talk to the media as he is the spokesperson for the church here in Serbia.  We love you Pres. Hill!  This photo is of Pres Hill, Dr. Bennett from Farmington, Ut. And the administrator of the Children’s Hospital in Novi Sad.
