Recently Ron went snowmobiling with his two eldest sons-Ron Jr. and Todd.  It is like the saying “If life hands you lemons, make lemonade”, or—- if it snows, go snowmobiling!!!!!!! That is how you make the best of winter while living in Utah.

#2.  This is as close as we got to the strip.  They had it all blocked off for foot traffic on New Year’s Eve so we will have to drive the strip with him later.

#3.   The Stratosphere Casino and amusement park.

#4.   We showed him the inside of a casino and NO, we didn’t gamble.

#5.  We ate at a famous Las Vegas Buffet.  Nikola had never seen so much food.  It was fun to watch him choose what to eat!

#6.  Snow on our beloved RED MOUNTAIN.  This is what we see when we walk out our front door each day.  It is sooooooooooo beautiful.

#7.  Austin and Madison got a new trampoline for Christmas.  Nikola enjoyed jumping with the kids and Matt.

Christmas At The Densley
Dec 27th, 2010 by ron

Merry Christmas!  What a glorious time of the year when we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.

#1.  Ron was in charge of cooking breakfast for our ward Christmas Breakfast.  They cooked sausage, hash browns and French toast in the parking lot of the church.  The breakfast was really good and we had a really fun time with the members of the ward there.

#2.  With the recent floods in Southern Utah, this is a view of the swollen Santa Clara creek.  The flood waters have since subsided and minimal damage.

#3.  We had a family Christmas Eve dinner at Josh and Brenda’s house for those family members who could come.  It was so much fun to be together with Matt and Becca and kids and Josh and Brenda and Preston and Brenda’s sister Anna and her husband Matt and their 3 kids and her brother D.J. and Melissa and 3 kids.  The kids all opened new P.J’s.  After suiting up in their new pajamas, they all drove around looking at Christmas lights and looking for Santa!

#4.  Josh got new jammies also!  Kayla is in the background.

#5.  “Grandma Net” and Madison.

#6.  Madison really wanted a nightgown for Christmas so grandma bought some bright fabric and made her one.  Also, a gown for her dolly.  Madi was so happy!

#7.  Grandpa Ron used this rocking chair when he was a really little boy.  Grandpa sanded it all down and repaired it and refinished it for Preston.  Preston loves to go out into the shop with Ron and Josh—thus—Grandpa’s Helper!

#8.  We love the view of Pine Valley Mountain with all its snow and Snow Canyon State Park with its beautiful red rocks.  This truly is a beautiful part of the world.

#9.  Preston loves his rocking chair!

#10.  We gave Preston his first tent!

#11.  Mitch sent Josh an RC jet for Christmas.  On Christmas afternoon, Josh went out with Matt and Austin to fly his plane.  They had a lot of fun until it crashed!!!!!!

#12.  We always have our Christmas dinner in the evening on Christmas night.  We were so happy to have Matt and Becca, Kayla, Austin and Madison, Josh and Brenda and Preston and Anna and Matt (Brenda’s sister and her husband) and their 3 kids with us.  The dinner was delicious-complete with turkey, ham, potatoes and gravy, stuffing and sparkling cider (non-alcoholic apple juice).

We had a wonderful Christmas and were so happy to be back at home with family.  There is no place like home for the holidays.

We are also thrilled to report that Nikola, our friend and translator from Serbia will arrive on New Year’s Eve.  We will pick him up in Las Vegas airport and drive him back to Ivins for a couple of days.  We will then drive him to Provo, Utah to help him get settled to begin his graduate studies at BYU.  We are

happy that he can come to our corner of the earth and see how we live life here in Utah.  We are also very proud of him for his accomplishments in being accepted into the graduate program at the Y.

We send our love and best wishes to all.

A Week in Hawaii
Nov 16th, 2010 by ron

We just returned from a week vacation in Hawaii.  We took our friends Norm and Jodie Hansen with us.  It was so much fun and was a wonderful place for Ron to recuperate from his 4 broken ribs.  As you will notice from the pictures, he is healing quite nicely.

#1.  We were happy to attend church on Kauai, Hawaii.  The local people were so nice and made us feel so welcome.

#2.  The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Hawaii.

#3.  This water spout is called the Blow Horn.  The waves roll in and spout water through the hole in the lava.  Another hole belches out a noise that sounds like the roar of a dragon.

#4.  Beautiful sunset over Hawaii.

#5.  View from our hotel balcony.

#6.  More view of the oceanfront in front of our hotel.

#7.  The largest and greatest swimming pool and 5 hot tubs!

#8.  Kauai, Hawaii has sandy beaches that stretch for miles.

#9.  Light house and beautiful ocean cove.

#10.  Smile at the birdie!!!!  The tree that belongs to these huge roots is alive and well.

#11.  Mushrooms?  Toad stools??

#12.  Harvesting the Taro Root.  They make POI out of the taro root.  It used to be a staple in the Hawaiian diet.

#13.  More taro harvest.

#14.  Serious  vacationers!

#15.  Princeville, on the north of the Island of Kauai is so beautiful and green.  It is like a patchwork quilt.

#16.  Ron, Norm and Jodie snorkeling in the ocean.

#17.  Ron and Norm golfing.

#18.  Ron golfing.  Are you starting to get the picture that Ron is feeling better from his broken ribs?????

#19.  Jodie and Annette at a Luau.

#20.  This was our favorite beach.  White sandy beach stretches for as far as the eye could see and very few people.  It was Great!!!!!

#21.  Norm and Jodie Hansen.  They were our guests and we had so much fun!

#22.  Another beautiful sunset.

#23.  Ron got a kick out of watching this cruise ship leave port.  It had to back up and inch its way through the channel.  It was like pulling a camel through the eye of a needle but they made it.

#24.  More of the swimming pool.

#25.  Two beached whales!

First Two Week Home
Oct 21st, 2010 by ron

We keep thinking it is time to end our blog but we continue to have fun adventures so have agreed to post a few more times.

This past couple of weeks have been busy, but fun.  We have been on the road again and refuse to hold still even though we are back on home soil in the USA.  The weather has been unseasonably warm and so Ron got his Corvette out of storage and polished her up for a spin around the block.  The grandkids got into the cleaning action as seen in pictures 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 &7.

#5.  Preston loved his first experience with riding a horse.

#8.  Ethan loves driving Grandpa’s big boy toy!

#9.  Brenda swinging Preston and Ethan in our backyard.

#10.  Lauren tried her hand at driving the Skid loader.

#11.  Grandpa even took Preston for a ride!

#12.  We all enjoyed helping Todd celebrate his 37th birthday—especially Preston who helped blow out the candles.

#13.  Elder & Sis Payne (my sister Caroline and her husband Dick) on their Preparation Day in Arizona.  They are enjoying their mission and working with the Navajo Indians on the reservation in Arizona.

#14. Wild horses on the reservation and there are hundreds, maybe thousands of them.

#15.  Enjoying A&W Rootbeer—an American soft drink.  Delicious!!!!!

#16.  This beautiful canyon is located on the Navajo Reservation.

#17.  Family fun!!!  The night before our homecoming talks in church.
